"James Kibo Parry & Associates" is a contribution focused on
the history of codes and identities on the internet. The contribution was
re-written for "Digital Performance", "TkH" "The
Walking Theory" Journal for performing arts theory, Edition 7, July 2004,
Belgrade, Montenegro. Publishers and Editors: Ana Vujanovic, Bojan Djordjev,
Sinisa Ilic and others. TkH Centre for Performing Arts Theory and Practice,
Belgrade, Serbia. The contribution contained an essay on the two most obnoxious
characters on the net. "Kibo" and "Jeff K.". "Kibo"
is the nickname and username of James Parry, a Usenetter known for his sense of humor,
various surrealist net pranks, an absurdly long mail "signatures" and
a machine-assisted knack for joining any thread in which his name was mentioned. His
exploits have earned him a multitude of enthusiasts, who celebrate him as the head
deity of the parody / religion / kibology, centered on the humor newsgroup alt.religion.kibology.
"Something Awful" is the brainchild of Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka.
During "Somethin Awful's" early period, in late 1999, "Lowtax"
created some of "Something Awful's" most famous and long-lasting characters
and catchphrases, such as "Jeff K.", the "Space Robots ICQ" prank,
and the "Awful Link of the Day" feature. Historically, both "characters"
have been a force in the promotion and creation of various internet phenomena. Contribution to the Publication |
