"1066 & All That" is a compilation by Claudia Hardi aka F.Sigorski.
"1066 & All That" - "Mallory Neely House" is a personal
experimental workspace, the mode of associative attention are annotations, footnotes
and excerpts out of reading material of the news which is relevant to us, whether it
is urgent or remote. A versatile info sphere of annotations, of footnotes and excerpts
resulting from the practice of perpetually scanning the horizon for cultural references
- be it an internet travelogue, a collection, a storage space. The wish to have our work
notes available independent of our whereabouts brought us to this form of publishing
preliminary notes and excerpts on a weblog. The curiosity cabinet taken as a model.
"1066 & All That" documents loosely the background of our work and
investigations.
Contents are, among others: The bookshelf – current readings and excerpts, a trail
on the depressed robot "Marvin" out of "The Hitchhikersguide to the
Galaxy", a trail on media that "re-enacts" the film "Shining"
by Kubrick, notes on films and some music videos, notes about webcams as a stage / medium,
some notes on events and traveling. Since the weblog is mostly about the books I read or scan
for references it is not updated on a daily bases as many other existing weblogs do. The
entries are appearing on it’s own rhythm.
"1066 & All That" is a reference to "1006 and All That - the history book
to end all history books" by W. C. Sellar & R. J. Yeatman. The Mallory
Neely House is a historic house from the victorian era in Memphis, Tennessee,
USA.
The Weblog was originally a contribution to the "shift re-appropriate" project. A
designmagazin published by Anja Lutz, Berlin, Germany. An exhibition of this project was held
from the 14th until the 16th Mai, 2004, in a 24 hour shop in Berlin, Germany. Followed by a
second exhibition from the 18th June until the 11th July, 2004, at the Akademie, Schloss Solitude
in Stuttgart, Germany.
